HGP 252: Human Dimensions of Environmental Hazards
This second year course focuses on interactions between environmental hazards, individuals and communities. Natural hazards are a major focus of examples discussed in class, but other hazards will also be included. Risk reduction strategies by members of the public and management agencies are covered in the course. This course introduces students to key concepts in this academic field and provides insights into the management of environmental hazards.
HGP 399: Research Methods in Planning and Human Geography
Collection and analysis of data for social research in planning and human geography. Research design and sampling procedures. Both qualitative and quantitative methods are explored. Fieldwork required.
HGP 452: Human Dimensions of Environmental Change
Examination of the human dimensions of climate change. Topics include climate change politics, public perceptions and impacts, vulnerability and resilience, planning and implementation of mitigation and adaptation.
