EAS372 Weather Analysis and Forecasting: Old announcements
- The final exam takes place Monday 24 April, 0900 to 1130, and will be an OPEN BOOK test. (9 April).
- Assignment 3 (and data as text file or as Excel file). Assignment 3 is due Tues. 11 April.
- Student weather briefings (see hints below) will take place: Tues 28 March (Karen); Thurs 30 March (Lisong); Tues 4 April (Sarah); Thurs 6 April (Zheqi); Tues 11 April (Andrew)
- Assignment 2, due Tues. 21 March. (Note: the first lecture after Reading Week will elaborate the QG vertical velocity equation, and review the topic of uncertainty/error propogation in calculations.)
- The midterm exam will be "open book". Cut-off date for material eligible to be examined is the class of Thursday 9 February (and any follow-up as regards the weather forecast exercise). The midterm questions will consist of (i) "Theory & Calculation" (answer two of three questions, for a total of 6%), (ii) "Live web weather data" (4%) and , (iii) " Interpretation of Weather Charts" (5%). Regarding the "Live web weather data" part of the exam, you should know how to find any type of map, chart, data, diagram that the instructor has pasted into the file that logs our lecture content: that is, progs, analyses, soundings, METARs and anything else that's been used (excepting movies).
- Assignment 1, due Tues. 7 February.
